Parent

“I highly recommend Tom as a piano tutor. He taught my son from 2019 to 2022, during which time my son, aged 11 to 13, achieved his Grade 3 certification. Tom was incredibly patient and had a great ability to connect with my sonโ€™s preferred learning style, making lessons both enjoyable and effective. His supportive and adaptable teaching approach greatly contributed to my sonโ€™s progress and confidence in playing the piano. Thanks to Tomโ€™s guidance, my son has now gone on to study music at A Level in sixth form.

“Tom taught both my kids piano a few years back. He was patient and made lessons enjoyable. So enjoyable in fact, that it was never a battle to get them to go to their piano lessons!

Steven

STUDENT

“I started teaching myself piano as an adult.
Books & videos can help only so far, so I needed to find a teacher.
I knew Tom through friends/family, and they spoke highly of his musical ability. Tom helped me understand aspects of learning & performance that I might never have achieved on my own.
Also, it is motivational to have a teacher, knowing that a lesson is
coming up, to make sure I have practised!”

Parent

“Our daughter was 6 years old when she started her lessons with Tom. A very patient teacher, who made lessons fun and interesting. Lessons carried on during lockdown, evidence of Tomโ€™s adaptability to unique situations. Highly recommended.”

TOM PRINCE

FAQ’s

How long should I practice?

Ideally, no shorter than 30mins. However, it’s not necessarily a case of how long, but rather how efficient you are during the time you put aside.

If you have a habit of only practicing your favourite bits, you will struggle to make progress. Additionally, if there is a part that is just too difficult for you right now, leave it and come back to it later.

Do I need an acoustic piano to learn how to play?

No. There are subtle advantages when learning how to play on an acoustic, but to learn music and play, you will be fine with a digital until around Grade 5/6 (Intermediate).

Do you travel for 1-to-1 Lessons?

No. My apologies, I am unable to accommodate travelling to students houses. I teach lessons in my professional music studio where everything is to hand.

Do you enter students for Graded exams?

I do enter students for ABRSM Grades.

For other boards, you may have to enter yourself.

May we arrange an interview with you?

I’m afraid I’m unable to accommodate interviews. If you have any questions about lessons, feel free to send a message via the contact form to book a call/meeting, and i’ll do my best to help you out.

Can I have a discount?

I have a loyalty system that offers rewards based on a streak of prompt payments. Please reach out to me if you have any questions.
